Royal & Red

Queen Elizabeth I, Red hair

Bonjour à tout le monde! Hello to one and all! Did you know that Queen Elizabeth I was a Redhead? That means that there is a slight chance that I may be descended from royalty… as such, it is only appropriate that you should hereby refer to me as Your Majesty. That kind of has a nice ring to it!

 What…? Not buying it?

Ok fine… You can continue to refer to me as the super-awesome Redhead!

As amusing as it is to entertain the idea of being a part of the royal family, today we will be talking about a different kind of royalty… because who doesn’t love a Disney Princess?

Strong-willed & Independent, and not to mention, Stubborn? – Must be a Redhead

Out of the original Disney Princesses, only one is a Redhead, and boy is she a lot of fun!

Ariel, Disney Princess, Red Hair

Ariel – Little Mermaid

Ariel is one of the Disney Princesses I relate to the most. She is a vibrant young mermaid with a beautiful singing voice, and is super duper boy crazy. I mean, how else would you describe someone who is willing to seek out a creepy old witch lady that lurks at the very bottom of the deep dark sea, against the advice of friends and commands of her father, in order to exchange her voice for a chance at being human so that the man of her dreams might possibly fall in love with her. Am I right?

Now despite the fact that I am not a mermaid, and also have not had the opportunity to meet a crazy witch lady of the sea, I think Ariel and I have a lot in common;

1) We both have wonderfully luscious red hair.

2) We both have some pretty stellar and melodious vocal skills.

3) We are both willing and dedicated to do whatever it takes for the one we love – although I think she may have me beat on this one…. I kind of like my voice.

4) The idea of another world intrigues and excites us – culture and travelling has always been a passion of mine.

5) We’re not really big fans of word “no” – when used by others that is… No

No means no! – But not really…

Growing up, I was a defiant little thing, and “no” was a word in my short list of vocabulary that I used more often than any parent ever cares to hear – but God forbid that I should hear that horrifyingly repulsive and nonsensical word uttered by someone else! To me, it was a challenge that meant if I kept asking, eventually the answer would change. If it didn’t, my philosophy was to throw a fit until it did, or until I was sent to be locked away in the dungeon where my cries could not be heard. Or I would just quietly go on about doing whatever it was I was told not to do, in hopes that I wouldn’t get caught.

This last option seems to be Ariel’s go-to plan of action. She collects all the earthly trinkets that she finds from sunken ships, and hides them away in a cave where her father can’t find them. Upon being told that she is not allowed to love a human or to go near the shore where humans live, she quietly escapes to visit the sea witch in order to get what she wants, and there is nothing that can persuade her otherwise, much to the dismay of her friend Flounder, and her father’s “spy” Sebastian.

I guess we’re just two pigheaded peas in a pod!

Next Week

Apologies for the two-week late post everyone! I seem to be busier over the holidays than I am during school. With Christmas coming up just around the corner, I’m going to try my best to keep on top of next week’s post, but no guarantees! You can definitely look for a post in the New Year! Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all you beautiful people!

I’ll leave you with a little video and cover song that I did up!
